What is AI Art and why does the art world hate it so much?

🎨 AI Art

We’re living through a pivotal moment in art history, one that will be looked back on as the dawn of a new creative era and the majority of the art world are throwing hate at AI Art. As an artist who is actively using AI to create art, I'm kind of getting over seeing all the bad press and being excluded from the majority of art competitions. Every day you read something online criticising AI Art.  I've gotten so over it I'm determined to run towards AI Art and help other artists explore this amazing tool as well.  I've created a Digital Workbook for Creating AI Art with Confidence and Integrity!

I think for artists in 2026, it’s our generation’s turn to be brave and lean into this new tool.  I think every artists should know how AI Art works and make an informed decision on whether it's a tool for them.

🚀 AI Art and it's Impact on Artists - The Biggest Creative Shift

When photography first appeared, traditional artists scoffed. “That’s not real art,” they said, “It’s cheating”, sound familiar?  AI art is today’s version of that same story.  A technological revolution that’s redefining what it means to create is being feared by the art world.

But here’s the truth: AI isn’t replacing artists, it's giving artists another tool to use. It's not AI vs human art.  It's a new modality and all artists should be empowered to explore it for themselves.  It’s turning words into wonder and ideas into imagery in seconds.

At its heart, AI is still driven by you and creates unique artworks based on your words, your taste, your emotion. The technology is the paintbrush. The artist is still the soul behind it.

💫 Create Ethical AI Art with Confidence and Integrity

It would be remiss of me not to mention that some of the fear is healthy fear, with great power comes great responsibility but have we tipped too far into toxic fear with AI Art?  I believe it is possible to create using AI art and maintain integrity.  The more you use the text prompts and accept or delete the variants you're presented with, the more the AI algorithm molds its responses to your individual style.

At That Wall Art Shop, I believe in using AI ethically and creating from a place of curiosity, creativity and integrity.

That means:

  • Crafting original prompts that reflect genuine inspiration, not imitation.

  • Respecting the work of other artists, and not copying another artwork.

  • Using AI as a collaborator ethically

You can create with confidence and integrity when you lead with good intention. When you approach AI as a creative partner.

I've decided to create a guide for Artists or anyone really who wants to explore AI Art generation with integrity and confidence.  I have complied a list of my favourite ai art generators as well as over 100 ethical text prompts to get you started with exploring the world of AI Art. I show you real life text prompts and the artworks they have created as well as other tips and tricks to help you on your journey with AI Art.

🌿 You Don’t Need Permission to Create

You don’t need a gallery to tell you you’re talented.
You don’t need a critic to understand your vision.
And you don’t need permission to explore what’s possible.

Whether you’re sketching by hand, designing digitally, or creating with AI, you're an artist and your work is valid.

So I hope this post inspires an artist to go and play, explore, experiment.
Create art that feels good in your heart. Don't let fear stop you from exploring this amazing tool.  I truly believe the most creative minds will pull out the most creative solutions from AI Art.

Because when the world looks back at this moment, they’ll see it for what it really was, a revolution of creativity.

And you’ll be proud you were part of it, creating ethically, joyfully, and unapologetically

✨ The Future of Art Is Human

At That Wall Art Shop, I celebrate this new chapter in art.

Every piece I create is guided by the belief that AI is just another brush in the artist’s hand and a tool for expressing yourself, storytelling, and imagination.

Art made with AI can still be warm, heartfelt, and deeply human.  Because the future of art isn’t about replacing artists, it’s about empowering them to use all tools a their disposal to create.

The world doesn’t need fewer artists, it needs more curious, brave and courageous ones.  There is enough space in our hearts for all art forms.

If you want to collaborate with me on an AI generated piece of art you can do that here.
