How to choose the right size Wall Art for your home or office space?

Choosing the right size wall art is important.  Our most popular artwork size by a long way is A2.  There are many methods available and a simple google search will provide lots of answers, from many different designers, which can get quite overwhelming and confusing.

The easiest way I've found is to grab yourself some A4 pieces of paper, accessible to most people in your home or office.  Find a printer and take at least 8 - A4 pages out.  Then use the A4 sheets of paper to mimic the sizes as show below.  Looking at the diagram below as you read the next part of the blog post may help to visualise the size differences;

The A4 to A1 sizing sequence is just a matter of doubling as you go. Put two sheets of A4 together and you've made yourself an A3 sized piece of paper.  Put two A3 pages together and you've now made an A2 sized piece of paper.  Put two A2 pieces of paper together and you've got an A1 sized piece of paper.  You don't have to have each size of paper.  An A4 sheet duplicated twice makes an A3 page.  Make another A3 page and put them together and you will have an A2 sized page and so on.  8 x A4 pages when placed together will provide you with a visual of what an A1 sized piece of wall art would look like.

Use some temporary tape or similar to fix the size you have created to where you are considering hanging your wall art.  I'd recommend getting some coloured A4 paper and temporarily putting it up where you'd like to place your artwork and leaving it there for a week or more.  As you walk past it notice if you would prefer it to be a little bigger or smaller.

Wall Art is such a personal choice.  A simple google search and you'll find all sorts of designers comments on how to measure your space and decide on the most suitable size.  This involves having a measuring tape, which not everyone has.  Most people have A4 sheets of paper.  Grab one of your last power bills or similar if you don't have A4 paper available.  Whilst I think design rules are great, I think it's more important that you like it.   After all you are the one that needs to like how it looks and feels in your space.

The above is just a guide that I've found works well for me in my home when trying to decide on the best size for a wall space.   I hope it helps you to make the right choice when choosing your wall art size.

Good luck!
